The United Arab Emirates has welcomed the announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump to initiate the process of removing the Syrian Arab Republic from the United States’ list of State Sponsors of Terrorism, describing the move as a positive step that could support Syria’s long-term recovery and reintegration into the global economy.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed its appreciation for the U.S. administration’s decision, noting that the initiative reflects an important development in supporting efforts to rebuild Syria following years of conflict.
The ministry said the move is expected to contribute to advancing Syria’s reconstruction efforts by creating a more favourable environment for economic recovery, encouraging investment and expanding opportunities for international cooperation. It added that reintegrating Syria into the global economic system could help stimulate sustainable growth, strengthen key sectors and improve the country’s long-term development prospects.
According to the ministry, the decision also has the potential to enhance regional security and stability by supporting initiatives aimed at restoring economic resilience and promoting peaceful development.
The UAE reaffirmed its longstanding support for all regional and international efforts that seek to achieve security, stability and sustainable development in Syria. The ministry stressed the importance of initiatives that help fulfil the aspirations of the Syrian people for peace, prosperity and improved living conditions while promoting coexistence and long-term stability.
The statement reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to supporting diplomatic efforts and constructive international cooperation that contribute to Syria’s recovery, economic revitalisation and integration into the broader regional and global economy.
