Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) have inaugurated the first phase of a strategic partnership to develop Dubai’s first ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging hub dedicated exclusively to DTC’s growing electric taxi fleet.
The new charging facility, located at DTC’s headquarters in Muhaisnah 4, was officially inaugurated by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Abdul Muhsen Ibrahim Kalbat, Chairman of the DTC Group Board of Directors.
The first phase features 24 next-generation ultra-fast charging points, each with a capacity of 360kW, enabling up to 24 electric taxis to be charged simultaneously in around 35 minutes. The facility is designed to minimise vehicle downtime, improve fleet efficiency and support the expansion of zero-emission transportation services across Dubai.
The project forms part of a long-term strategic agreement signed between DEWA and DTC during WETEX 2025 to deploy more than 200 ultra-fast EV charging points dedicated to Dubai Taxi Company’s fleet. The initiative is expected to significantly strengthen Dubai’s electric mobility infrastructure while supporting the emirate’s transition toward sustainable transportation.
Al Tayer said the partnership reflects DEWA’s commitment to strengthening strategic collaborations that accelerate the shift to a cleaner, more efficient transport ecosystem in line with Dubai’s ambition to become one of the world’s most sustainable and future-ready cities.
He noted that the project supports the objectives of the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, while contributing to the development of a reliable, high-capacity EV charging network that encourages greater adoption of electric vehicles, reduces carbon emissions and improves air quality across the emirate.
Al Tayer also praised Dubai Taxi Company’s commitment to expanding its electric vehicle fleet, highlighting the importance of integrating the energy and transport sectors to build a sustainable mobility ecosystem that meets international standards and reinforces Dubai’s position as a global leader in innovation and sustainability.
Kalbat described strategic partnerships as a key pillar of Dubai Taxi Company’s long-term growth strategy, noting that the collaboration with DEWA supports the company’s sustainability goals and aligns with Dubai’s broader vision for smart, environmentally friendly transportation.
He said the project represents a significant milestone in creating the infrastructure needed to support the emirate’s transition to clean mobility while delivering lasting value for customers, stakeholders and the wider community.
DTC Group CEO Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi said the new charging hub marks an important step in the company’s fleet electrification strategy and reflects Dubai’s ambition to lead the future of sustainable transportation.
He added that the facility represents the first phase of a dedicated network of more than 200 EV charging stations for DTC’s electric fleet. As the network expands, it will enhance operational efficiency, maximise vehicle availability and enable the company to meet growing demand for reliable, zero-emission taxi services while supporting Dubai’s long-term sustainability objectives.
The initiative reinforces Dubai’s continued investment in advanced charging infrastructure and clean transportation technologies as part of its broader efforts to build a smart, low-carbon and innovation-driven mobility ecosystem.
