Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, stated that the UAE, under its wise leadership, has strengthened its position as a leading and resilient global model in tourism sector development, offering an exceptional experience based on proactiveness, high readiness, and rapid crisis response.
He noted that the UAE has consistently demonstrated its ability to protect tourism achievements, ensure the sustainability of this vital sector, and enhance its global competitiveness.
His remarks were delivered during the second meeting of the Emirates Tourism Council 2026, held in Ras Al Khaimah under his chairmanship and attended by heads and directors-general of local tourism authorities. The meeting reviewed new action plans aimed at accelerating the sector’s recovery and supporting its continued growth and sustainability amid current regional developments and their impact on travel and tourism.
Bin Touq highlighted the strong performance of the UAE’s tourism sector in 2025, noting that hotel establishments welcomed around 32.34 million guests—the highest annual figure in the country’s history—compared to 30.75 million in 2024, representing a 5.2% increase.
Total hotel nights exceeded 110.62 million, up from 104.45 million the previous year, reflecting growth of approximately 5.9%.
He added that hotel revenues across the UAE rose by 9.7% to about AED 49.21 billion in 2025, while hotel occupancy reached 79.3%. The total number of hotel rooms stood at 217,000 by the end of the year.
Bin Touq said these indicators underscore the tourism sector’s vital role in supporting the national economy and strengthening its regional and global competitiveness, serving as a strong driver for continued sustainable growth.
The council also reviewed efforts by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and local tourism authorities since the onset of the current situation, which have helped enhance visitor safety, ensure a seamless travel experience across the country, and provide diverse accommodation options along with integrated logistical support services.
It further highlighted strengthened coordination among relevant entities to ensure a swift and effective response to any developments affecting the tourism sector.
