
HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held official talks on Wednesday in Athens with HE Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Kyriakos Mitsotakis, focusing on enhancing bilateral relations and discussing regional and international developments.
The meeting took place at the Maximos Mansion, where the Greek Prime Minister welcomed HH the Amir and his accompanying delegation, noting the steady progress in relations between the State of Qatar and the Hellenic Republic. He also expressed his country’s interest in further expanding cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy and investment.
HE Mitsotakis reiterated Greece’s support for the State of Qatar in the wake of recent Iranian attacks, commending Doha’s continued efforts to promote diplomatic dialogue and de-escalation.
For his part, HH the Amir expressed his pleasure at visiting the Hellenic Republic and highlighted the longstanding ties between the two countries. He thanked Greece for its support and reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to pursuing diplomatic solutions to regional tensions.
His Highness also emphasized the success of Qatari investments in Greece and expressed Qatar’s interest in expanding cooperation further, including in defense and other areas of mutual benefit.
The discussions covered a broad range of sectors, including defense, trade, energy, information technology, culture, and education, with both sides exchanging views on regional and international developments.
On regional issues, the talks focused on the situation in the Middle East, particularly Lebanon, with both leaders stressing the importance of de-escalation and achieving a lasting political solution.
They also reviewed developments in relations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, underscoring the need to safeguard freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and ensure the security of global energy supplies and trade routes.

The talks were attended by senior officials from both sides, including HE Amiri Diwan Chief Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi and HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, along with members of the official delegation. Greek officials present included HE Minister of National Defense Nikolaos Dendias and HE Minister of Foreign Affairs Georgios Gerapetritis, among others.

The two leaders also held a separate bilateral meeting to further discuss cooperation and shared international concerns.
