Saudi Arabia’s aviation ambitions are continuing to gather momentum, with Riyadh Air marking another major step in its journey to become a global carrier rooted in the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda.
H.E. Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of the Public Investment Fund and Chairman of Riyadh Air, said the latest step reflects the ambitions of Saudi Vision 2030 and reinforces PIF’s role in enabling the tourism, travel, and entertainment ecosystem under its 2026–2030 strategy. He also noted that the milestone supports Saudi Arabia’s broader goal of strengthening its global position.

Riyadh Air, a PIF-owned company, has been positioned as a central pillar in the Kingdom’s plan to transform Riyadh into a major international hub for business, tourism, and connectivity. The airline’s stated ambition is to connect the Saudi capital to more than 100 destinations by 2030, supporting the country’s efforts to diversify its economy and expand its non-oil sectors.
The airline’s development comes at a time when Saudi Arabia is investing heavily in aviation, tourism, hospitality, entertainment, and logistics. These sectors are expected to play an increasingly important role in the Kingdom’s next phase of growth, as Vision 2030 continues to shift the economy toward globally competitive industries.
Recent reports also point to Riyadh Air’s operational momentum, including the arrival of its custom-manufactured Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and the planned expansion of its international network. The carrier has framed these developments as part of a broader mission to connect Riyadh with leading economic and tourism destinations around the world.
For Saudi Arabia, Riyadh Air is more than a new airline. It is a strategic national project designed to support tourism growth, attract investment, enhance global connectivity, and position Riyadh as one of the world’s leading capitals.
As the airline moves closer to full-scale operations, its progress is becoming a visible example of how PIF-backed companies are being used to turn Vision 2030 from strategy into execution.
