US President Donald Trump has announced the cancellation of planned airstrikes against Iran that were reportedly scheduled for tonight, stating that an agreement had been reached following high-level diplomatic developments, though he did not provide specific details of the deal.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran had been elevated to the highest levels of leadership and had received official approval within Iran’s governing structure. As a result, he said he had ordered the cancellation of the planned strikes and bombing operations that were set to take place this evening.
He further stated that a naval blockade would remain in place in the meantime, indicating that it would continue to be enforced until the agreement is formally finalized. According to his statement, the date and location for the signing of the agreement will be announced at a later stage.
