The UAE State Security Department (SSD) has announced that it has dismantled a terrorist organisation and arrested its members for engaging in covert activities aimed at weakening national unity and destabilising the country. Authorities said the group had been planning systematic terrorist and sabotage operations within the UAE. Investigations also uncovered links between the organisation and Iran’s “Wilayat al-Faqih” ideology.
Officials revealed that members had adopted extremist ideologies that posed a threat to internal security. They were involved in recruitment and mobilisation efforts through secret meetings, carried out under a coordinated plan with external entities to gain access to sensitive locations.
According to surveillance and ongoing investigations, the group organised clandestine meetings both inside and outside the country with terrorist elements and suspicious organisations. Their objective was to spread misleading ideas among Emirati youth, recruit supporters aligned with foreign interests, incite opposition to the UAE’s foreign policy and domestic measures, and damage the country’s image. They also raised funds through unofficial channels and transferred them to questionable external entities.
Charges against the suspects include establishing and operating a secret organisation within the UAE, pledging allegiance to foreign parties, and undermining national unity and social cohesion.
The State Security Department reaffirmed its commitment to countering any threats to public safety, urging citizens and residents to report suspicious activities through official channels to help maintain security and stability.
