Meta Platforms is set to acquire artificial intelligence (AI) chips from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) under a major agreement that could be valued at over $100 billion. The deal not only secures Meta’s access to AMD’s cutting-edge MI450 AI chips but also includes an option for Meta to purchase up to a 10% stake in the chipmaker.
The MI450 chips will be used to power Meta’s data centers, enhancing the company’s AI capabilities and infrastructure. The 6-gigawatt deal will be delivered in phases, with shipments supporting the first gigawatt deployment scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026. This strategic partnership underscores Meta’s focus on scaling its AI operations while deepening its relationship with a leading semiconductor manufacturer.
The agreement is one of the largest chip supply deals in recent history and positions both companies to benefit from the growing demand for AI hardware.
