Dubai Press Club Holds Talks on the Future of Regional Relations Amid Recent Developments

As part of its ongoing dialogue series, the Dubai Press Club (DPC) hosted a session titled “The Future of Regional Relations Following the Iranian Aggression,” featuring Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence Affairs, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee at the Federal National Council.

The event was attended by Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council and President of DPC, alongside Maryam Al Mulla, Director of DPC, as well as senior media figures, content creators, and professionals interested in political and media affairs.

During the discussion, Dr. Al Nuaimi explored the major transformations shaping the region and their implications for regional relations amid fast-changing geopolitical dynamics. He also addressed the challenges and opportunities emerging both regionally and globally.

He noted that recent aggression targeting the UAE and Gulf countries underscored the resilience and strength of national institutions, as well as the high level of coordination among them in protecting the nation and its achievements. According to him, this level of preparedness and cooperation drew international attention and admiration.

Dr. Al Nuaimi emphasised that people remain at the centre of the UAE’s priorities, highlighting how stranded travellers at airports were supported and cared for, reflecting the country’s strong humanitarian values.

He also underscored the critical role of the media, describing it as equally important as the military, security, and economic sectors in safeguarding the nation. Media professionals, he said, serve as the voice of the country, especially in addressing both military and information-related challenges with awareness and professionalism.

The FNC committee chairman added that just as the UAE demonstrated strength through its defence capabilities during the conflict, it will continue to advance politically and economically while reshaping its regional and international relationships.

He further noted that the UAE is reassessing its national priorities in response to evolving circumstances, stressing that its interests remain paramount. The country, he said, is focused on building genuine partnerships grounded in mutual interests to ensure long-term strategic sustainability.

Dr. Al Nuaimi also revealed that recent developments exposed a terrorist cell linked to the Iranian regime that sought to undermine national security. He praised the country’s security agencies for successfully infiltrating and dismantling the network and apprehending those involved.

On Iran, he highlighted the need to distinguish between the regime and its people, describing the latter as primary victims. He added that the UAE continues to treat the Iranian community within the country with respect and equality, without politicising their presence.

He also cautioned against misleading media narratives, stressing the importance of awareness and critical evaluation, while reaffirming the UAE’s commitment to promoting peace and stability.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Al Nuaimi called for a balanced understanding of regional developments and emphasised the importance of dialogue and cooperation in strengthening stability. He also praised the Dubai Press Club for its role as a leading platform for dialogue and for enhancing Dubai’s standing as a regional and global media hub.
