
The total number of point-of-sale (POS) transactions in Saudi Arabia reached 270,677,000 during the period from April 26 to May 2, 2026, with a combined value of SAR 16,631,460,000. This represents a significant increase compared to SAR 12,076,169,000 recorded during the same period last year, reflecting continued growth in consumer spending and digital payments across the Kingdom.
At the city level, Riyadh led activity with 86,314,000 transactions valued at SAR 5,524,017,000, highlighting its position as the largest contributor to POS activity nationwide. Makkah followed with 11,124,000 transactions worth SAR 779,214,000, while Madinah recorded 10,296,000 transactions totaling SAR 610,162,000.
The data underscores the ongoing expansion of electronic payment adoption in Saudi Arabia, driven by strong retail activity and the continued shift toward cashless transactions.
