U.A.E.-based aluminium giant, Emirates Global Aluminium PJSC, EGA, will be showcasing the growing value of the U.A.E.’s aluminium industry to the global market by hosting Metal Bulletin’s 29th International Aluminium Conference from 22nd to 24th September in Abu Dhabi.

The event will be opened by a short speech by Suhail Mohammed bin Faraj Al Mazrouei, U.A.E. Minister of Energy, and a keynote address by Abdulla Kalban (Managing Director and CEO of EGA).

This year’s event marks the first attendance as a single entity for EGA, the jointly-owned aluminium conglomerate formed by Mubadala Development Corporation and Investment Corporation of Dubai by combining their aluminium industry assets. EGA’s core operating entities are Dubai Aluminium, PJSC and Emirates Aluminium Company Limited, PJSC.

EGA will be playing a leading role at the event, which is widely regarded as the premier international forum for the global aluminium industry and is expected to attract more than 500 key industry decision-makers from around the world. As in prior years, the conference sessions will comprise presentations on research and other papers related to the aluminium industry.

The delegates’ first taste of traditional Arabic hospitality will entail a visit to EGA’s state-of-the-art EMAL plant at Al Taweelah on Monday 22nd September, where they will be given a comprehensive tour and have the opportunity to participate in a special question and answer session in the casting area.

EGA will host visitors at its exhibition stand for the duration of the event, where it will be promoting its state-of-the-art facilities, sustainable practices, high quality product portfolio and advanced technologies. The company is also hosting a gala dinner on Tuesday 23rd September.

The hosting of the event in the U.A.E. this year is fortuitous, given EGA’s growing emergence as a major player in the global aluminium industry. The company’s total production capacity has increased to 2.4 million tonnes per year following the full ramp-up of EMAL Phase II mid-2014, placing the company among the top five aluminium producers in the world.

EGA’s product range combines re-melt aluminium and standard commodity ingot and sow, as well as sheet ingot and billets of its EMAL operation, with the high purity sow and ingot, extrusion billet and foundry alloy from its DUBAL plant. EGA’s products are used worldwide in diverse industry sectors, like automotive and aerospace manufacturing, consumer electronics, food and beverage packaging and construction.
