The Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute inaugurated the first day of the FII PRIORITY Miami 2026 summit under the theme “Capital in Motion.” The event brought together global investors, policymakers, and business leaders to explore how capital is shifting across regions, sectors, and technologies in response to geopolitical and economic transformations.
Key Themes and Discussions
Speakers highlighted the increasing speed and purpose with which capital is moving toward new centers of growth. Key enablers identified for long-term investment included:
- Nearshoring and regional diversification
- Infrastructure development
- Energy projects
- Human capital investment
Latin America was emphasized as a rising hub for stability and growth, thanks to its abundant natural resources, expanding financial markets, and growing geopolitical significance.
Summit Highlights
- Opening Remarks: Richard Attias, Chairman of the Executive Committee and Acting CEO of the FII Institute, stated: “This is a moment to move from fragmentation to alignment, from hesitation to action. The new Latin American order will not be defined by speeches, but by decisions, partnerships, and investments.”
- Capital Flows: Participants discussed strong investment inflows into key markets such as Brazil, highlighting Latin America’s role in global food and energy security. The importance of investing in infrastructure and education to generate sustainable, long-term returns was emphasized.
- Closed-Door Conclaves: High-level discussions focused on topics including digital assets and centralized control, high-risk/high-reward cities for investment, and the future of work in 2050. These sessions aimed to convert ideas into practical strategies and foster actionable partnerships.
New Initiatives Announced
- Capital in Motion Index (CMI): The summit unveiled the CMI, a global initiative designed to track capital flows across borders, sectors, and technologies. The index, to be fully launched at FII10, will provide investors and policymakers with insights into how investments shape the future of economies and societies.
- FII Innovators Pitch 2026: Now in its third edition, the competition—run in collaboration with MIT Solve as part of the FII Institute’s ACT pillar—will connect innovative startups in AI, sustainability, healthcare, and education with global investors. Finalists will present their ideas at FII10.
