The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has officially launched the REDEX shipping service by CMA CGM at Jeddah Islamic Port, marking a significant step toward boosting the regional and global competitiveness of Saudi ports in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
The REDEX service establishes direct maritime connections between Jeddah Islamic Port and four key regional and international ports: Malta Freeport, Port Said, Alexandria, and Aqaba. The service offers a total container capacity of 2,594 TEUs, enhancing trade flow and connectivity across major shipping routes.
This strategic initiative underscores Mawani’s commitment to strengthening supply chains, facilitating the efficient movement of global trade, and supporting the growth of national exports. It also aligns with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, positioning the Kingdom as a leading global logistics hub linking Asia, Europe, and Africa.
Jeddah Islamic Port is equipped with 62 multi-purpose berths and features a dedicated logistics zone for bonded storage and re-export operations, along with a direct truck transport system to streamline cargo movement. The port also houses specialized terminals with state-of-the-art equipment, including two advanced container handling terminals and multiple marine service berths, collectively capable of handling up to 130 million tons annually.
Through this development, Mawani continues to reinforce Saudi Arabia’s role as a central player in global maritime trade while supporting the country’s broader economic diversification and logistics objectives under Vision 2030.
