Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon Fahd Al-Dosari officially inaugurated the resumption of Lebanese exports to Saudi markets during a ceremony held today at the Port of Beirut, marking a significant step in strengthening economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The event was attended by Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, along with the ministers of finance, industry, agriculture, economy and trade, senior officials from relevant government agencies, and a number of political, economic, and media figures. Members of the Saudi Embassy in Lebanon also participated in the ceremony.

In his address, Ambassador Al-Dosari announced that the Kingdom’s decision to resume imports of Lebanese goods was implemented in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He explained that the move came in response to requests from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and Prime Minister Nawaf Salam and follows the positive measures undertaken by the Lebanese government to strengthen state institutions and enhance regulatory and security oversight.
“Based on the directives of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and in response to the requests of the Lebanese leadership, the Kingdom has resumed Lebanese exports after observing tangible progress by the Lebanese government in rebuilding state institutions and the efforts undertaken by the competent authorities,” Ambassador Al-Dosari said.
He revealed that the first shipment of Lebanese exports departed from the Port of Beirut today en route to Jeddah Islamic Port, symbolizing the reopening of a key trade route between the two countries. The ambassador stressed that the decision reflects the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Saudi Arabia and Lebanon and underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Lebanon’s stability, sovereignty, economic recovery, and the well-being of its people.
For his part, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam welcomed the resumption of exports and reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to ensuring that its territory is not used in any manner that could harm Arab countries. He expressed gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the decision to lift the ban on Lebanese exports, describing it as an important step toward revitalizing Lebanon’s economy and restoring confidence in its trade sector.
Following the ceremony, attendees toured the Port of Beirut and inspected newly installed advanced cargo-scanning systems. The state-of-the-art equipment is designed to strengthen security controls, improve inspection capabilities, prevent illicit shipments, and accelerate customs clearance procedures, supporting efforts to facilitate trade while maintaining high security standards.
The resumption of Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia is expected to provide a significant boost to Lebanese producers and exporters, particularly in the agricultural and industrial sectors, while contributing to broader economic cooperation between the two countries and enhancing trade flows across the region.
