The designation of April 21 as the International Day of Women in Industry, following one of the key outcomes of the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), highlights that women’s empowerment has evolved beyond a temporary slogan into a strategic direction reshaping the global economy and fostering more inclusive, innovative, and future-ready industrial systems.
Saudi Vision 2030 is at the forefront of advancing women’s empowerment in industry, strengthening the competitiveness of the national industrial sector, encouraging innovation, and supporting the development of a diversified and sustainable economy.
The Saudi Press Agency documented scenes from a day inside a pharmaceutical factory in Jeddah, where Saudi women operate in highly precise environments that demand the highest standards of quality and commitment. Their roles span pharmaceutical production, quality control, supply chain management, development, and planning, reflecting the growing breadth of their participation in the industrial sector.
Women’s contributions extend far beyond a single industry, reaching across pharmaceuticals, food production, petrochemicals, technology, and manufacturing, in addition to industrial innovation and research and development.
Saudi women continue to go beyond achievement alone, actively redefining their role in industry as a productive force, an innovative contributor, and a key partner in shaping the future.
