DP World has announced the launch of Egypt’s first fully integrated Logistics Distribution Centre (LDC) at Sokhna Logistics Park, marking a major milestone in the development of the country’s logistics and supply chain sector.
The new facility is designed to enable international companies to access the Egyptian market while simultaneously serving regional and global customers through a single, centralised distribution hub.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, alongside senior government officials and representatives from international companies.
The launch event, which coincided with the first official visit to Egypt by Essa Kazim following his appointment as Chairman of DP World, also saw the signing of agreements with the first three global customers set to use the LDC’s services.
Through the facility, DP World offers an end-to-end integrated supply chain solution that includes international freight forwarding, port services at Sokhna Port, warehousing, inventory management, order fulfilment, customs clearance, transport coordination, and value-added services such as assembly, packaging, repackaging, labelling, and product customisation. This model allows businesses to serve multiple markets from one location while maintaining ownership of their inventory until final distribution.
Strategically located next to Sokhna Port within the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the LDC benefits from direct access to one of the world’s key maritime trade corridors, connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.
Essa Kazim, Chairman of DP World, said the launch represents a new phase in the company’s long-standing partnership with Egypt. He noted that the country has been a key investment destination and reaffirmed DP World’s confidence in its potential to become a global hub for trade, industry, and logistics.
He added that the LDC reflects DP World’s vision of building an integrated ecosystem linking ports, logistics, and supply chain solutions, enabling businesses to operate more efficiently across local and international markets, while supporting Egypt’s broader economic development goals.
The initial agreements highlight growing international confidence in Egypt as a regional logistics hub. The LDC has already attracted a diverse range of customers, including a Kenya-based tea exporter serving markets across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe, which will use the facility as a regional inventory hub for distributing around 1,000 TEUs annually.
Another client, a global consumer goods distributor, will use the centre to support operations across eight markets, including Saudi Arabia, the Levant, and the Horn of Africa, supported by temperature-controlled storage facilities within the park. A third customer, a German multinational specialising in fibre-optic cables and digital infrastructure, will utilise the hub to enhance distribution and re-export capabilities across Egypt, North Africa, and the GCC region.
Mohammad Shihab, Executive Vice President for Egypt and the Levant at DP World, said the LDC strengthens Egypt’s trade and logistics ecosystem by allowing companies to position inventory closer to end markets and operate from a single regional hub. He added that the model improves efficiency and flexibility while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a strategic gateway between continents.
He also thanked the Egyptian government for its support, noting that the initiative will help attract investment, support industrial growth, and enhance national competitiveness.
By positioning inventory and raw materials closer to production and consumption centres, the LDC is expected to reduce lead times, improve supply chain resilience, and strengthen business continuity. It will also support local industries by ensuring faster access to essential inputs and reinforcing Egypt’s role as a regional logistics hub.
DP World has invested more than USD 1.4 billion in integrated logistics infrastructure across Egypt, including the expansion of Sokhna Port, the development of Sokhna Logistics Park, and a new cold chain facility currently under construction.
Together with DP World’s freight forwarding, contract logistics, and end-to-end supply chain services, the integrated network is designed to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, improve export competitiveness, and provide seamless access to regional and global markets.
