Mr. Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai SME and Mr. Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer, Epoc Messe Frankfurt GmbH signed the agreement.

Dubai SME, the agency of the Department of Economic Development in Dubai mandated to promote the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector, and Epoc Messe Frankfurt have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to encourage the ongoing growth and development of local SMEs within the security sector.

Mr. Abdul Baset Al Janahi, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai SME and Mr. Ahmed Pauwels, Chief Executive Officer, Epoc Messe Frankfurt GmbH signed the agreement which will facilitate the participation of 10 Dubai-based SMEs at Intersec 2014, taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from January 19th to 21st.

Dubai SME is an instrumental agency, which drives the growth and development of small and medium enterprises through dedicated policies and initiatives. Their main aim is to encourage entrepreneurship and assist start up companies to evolve into successful business models.

Established as the largest and most comprehensive exhibition and conference for security, safety and fire protection in the Middle East, Intersec provides a platform for international companies to reach over 20,000 security professionals and expand their business network, specifically in the wider MENA region.

Mr. Al Janahi said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with Epoc Messe Frankfurt on their Intersec exhibition. As a well established, international trade fair Intersec provides an excellent opportunity for the participating SMEs to really break into the industry and establish a presence. A major element of the Dubai SME strategy is to help our SMEs showcase their competitiveness globally and learn from the best all over the world. It is our aim, through the Intersec pavilion, to challenge these businesses and offer them another avenue to grow and develop in an international environment.” Mr. Pauwels said: “We are very excited about working with Dubai SME on this initiative and will work hard to ensure the participating companies can make the very best out of exhibiting at Intersec. We have been present in the region for over a decade, creating platforms which encourage trade relations and help with business development. We strongly believe that supporting local businesses is one of the first steps in helping to nurture an economy and community and hope that this is the first step in Epoc Messe Frankfurt’s relationship with Dubai SME.” Participating companies in the Dubai SME Pavilion will be given professional counsel on exhibiting at a trade show including free workshops from the organiser on making the most out of their participation. The Dubai SME Pavilion will support Dubai SME companies specialising in the security sector who have not previously had the opportunity to exhibit at such a large trade show.
