Gold prices edged higher in volatile trading today as investors awaited key US inflation data expected later this week. Market attention is focused on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) due Tuesday and the Producer Price Index (PPI) scheduled for Wednesday, both of which could offer fresh insight into the Federal Reserve’s interest rate outlook.
Spot gold traded at approximately $4,723.10 per ounce by late evening, rebounding after falling more than one percent earlier in the session. Meanwhile, US gold futures held steady at around $4,740.40.
Ongoing geopolitical tensions continued to support demand for safe-haven assets, helping offset pressure from a stronger US Dollar.
Among other precious metals, silver climbed to $84.99 per ounce, while platinum and palladium gained 2.6% and 1% respectively.
