The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has formally announced its participation at Gitex Technology Week 2014, taking place in the Dubai World Trade Centre on 12th – 16th October, 2014. The TRA will be exhibiting alongside several of its subsidiary departments, showcasing the latest plans and programs to advance the nation’s digital government services and telecommunications environment.
Mohamed Al Qamzi, Chairman of TRA, stated, “The United Arab Emirates has truly cemented its place among the most technically advanced nations in the world. Through a concentrated national plan implemented by our visionary leadership, the UAE ICT sector transformed into a key engine for the components of growth, development and progress in the knowledge economy and the information society. Gitex Technology Week is an international platform of considerable scale in the sector and as such, the TRA is delighted to announce its participation at the event which attracts people the world over, interested in the information and communications technology sector.” “The TRA’s involvement with this event falls in line with our wider strategy to engage with local, regional and international stakeholders as we look to accelerate efforts towards realizing the ambitious targets set out by The UAE Vision 2021. It is safe to say that our participation at this year’s Gitex Technology Week will be our largest involvement to date, and we are honoured to host fourteen federal governmental entities on the TRA stand, including the UAE mGov Initiative,” he added.
The official TRA stand will include representation of the following subsidiary departments: Type Approval, Spectrum, The Computer Emergency Response Team (aeCERT), The ICT Fund as well as representatives from the .ae Domain Administration (.aeDA) and the U.A.E. mGovernment Initiative.
Regarding the participation of the UAE mGovernment Initiative on the TRA stand, Mohamad Naser Al Ghanim ,TRA Director General added: “The U.A.E. mGovernment Initiative is progressing by leaps and bounds, and is reaching projected goals with great success thanks to the vision of our prudent leadership and the efforts of teams working in various government divisions under active supervision by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, Prime Minister’s Office.” Al Ghanim pointed that the TRA stand will see the announcement of significant achievements in the smart government segment and called for those interested to visit the authority’s stand to view those achievements.
Alongside the TRA stand will be the Emirates Authority for Standardization & Metrology (ESMA), Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Environment and Water, General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments, and the Ministry of Labour.
The increased presence of U.A.E. federal government entities signifies the significance of Gitex Technology Week as each looks to utilize the platform to increase awareness of the range of e-services provided to the public.
