The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, TRA, today hosted the 10th edition of the Business Continuity Management Forum for the Telecommunications Sector at the TRA Dubai headquarters.
Attending the event were representatives from the Emirates Telecommunications Corporation – Etisalat, Emirates Integrated Telecommunication Company – du, National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), Professional Communication Corporation “Nedaa”, Al Yah Satellite Communications Company – “Yahsat”, Rabdan Academy and Asant Company.
The forum serves as an important interactive platform for the exchange of operative, academic and scientific expertise between the various parties involved, on a number of important issues and strategic topics. This includes the adoption of a set of mechanisms and alternative plans that provide necessary support to the integrated emergency management system and ensure the continued functioning of the Telecommunications sector in various circumstances.
“The UAE vision, set in 2012, aims to forecast a leading position in the world by 2021. The provision of a sustainable environment and integrated infrastructure is one of the most significant themes and pillars of the vision. This is essential with regards to the quality of the Telecommunications sector, which is currently one of the important indicators to measure the level of development, progress and procedure. The TRA functions under this vision, which constitutes a curriculum and roadmaps leading us to achieve our ultimate goal of strengthening the position of the UAE in the world’s ICT sector,” said Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Deputy Director-General for the Telecommunications Sector, TRA.
The forum aims to provide an opportunity for authorised licensees to share their experiences and views that serve the public’s interest while enhancing the stability of the UAE ICT sector. It is also gives access to the best practices in the field of business continuity management, on a regional and global scale.
