Ooredoo today announced the launch of the development of the first phase of its latest Qatar Data Centre – QDC5, located in Mesaimeer.
The Ooredoo Data Centre is one of most advanced in the region, recently receiving an ISO 22301 Certification – Business Continuity Management Systems (BCMS) accreditation that positions it as a global leader in Data Availability, Resiliency & Disaster Recovery. As part of its commitment to the Qatar National Vision 2030, Ooredoo has continued to invest in a national network of Data Centres, providing an important foundation for innovation and development. In launching the new QDC5, Ooredoo is stepping up its on-going efforts to ensure that businesses can access the latest generation of smart solutions through a wide range of Next Generation Technologies.
Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser Al Thani, Chief New Business Officer, said: “Our new QDC5 is a cutting-edge Data Centre – one of the most advanced in the region – which will enable companies to deploy the latest generation of services quickly and cost-effectively. We have also ensured that QDC5 uses energy-efficient ‘cold aisle containment’ technology, that helps drive up to four times greater heat and power densities than standard data centres.”
QDC5 offers a number of “firsts” for Qatar, with a range of services that have not been made available previously. One of these is the introduction of “Intelligent Patching” in the Data Centre, providing complete visibility into the network infrastructure, enhanced productivity through automation, and reduced downtimes for hosted customers. In another first, QDC5 also has an integrated sensor network that maximises energy efficiency through streamlined web-based management and allows control of the IP-based Intelligent LED lighting system in the facility.
By introducing these advanced features, Ooredoo is making it possible for companies to adopt the Next Generation Data Center Technologies by reducing deployment time and increasing availability. Ooredoo Data Centres provide a full range of services including Hosting & Co-location, Cloud Services, Web Content Delivery, Data Backup & Restoration, Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery, Infrastructure Monitoring & Management and IT Security.
