EDGE, an advanced technology company for defence and beyond, on Sunday announced the launch of GPS-Protect, an anti-jam system that covers air, land and sea applications.

Developed by SIGN4L, a leading developer of electronic warfare and intelligence solutions (EW&I) and entity within EDGE Group, the UAE-made system provides significant immunity to jamming, thereby protecting mission critical systems that require assured position, navigation and timing information from GPS. The state-of-the-art system uses a mutli-element controlled reception pattern array (CRPA) antenna and provides resistance against one or multiple jamming signals. Featuring the most advanced technology, GPS-Protect implements multiple mitigation methods and specialised digital signal processing algorithms to ensure continuous operation of systems that rely on satellite navigation when GPS jammers or other mechanisms are used to jam or disrupt satellite signals.

Designed to operate under highly dynamic conditions, GPS-Protect is lightweight and compact, making it ideal for SWaP (size, weight and power)-limited unmanned systems and guided weapons. Offering a single solution for multiple applications, the modular system can also be integrated into larger platforms such as vehicles, ships and aircraft. Waleid Al Mesmari, Vice President of Programme Management, EW&I — EDGE, said, “Building on the success of our existing product portfolio, we are pleased to be launching GPS-Protect — the first anti-jam system to be developed entirely in the UAE and one of few available in the region.”

He added, “Aligning with the growing trend towards powerful electronic warfare capabilities in smaller compact packages, GPS-Protect extends spectrum superiority to small-scale, unmanned systems, as well as to larger aircraft and ships. It maintains the platform’s GPS signal throughout the presence of unintentional radio-frequency (RF) interference or jamming attacks, and we look forward to working with our partners and clients in deploying this cutting-edge product to market.” SIGN4L is part of the Electronic Warfare & Intelligence cluster at EDGE, an advanced technology group for defence that ranks among the top 25 military suppliers in the world. Meanwhile Jetex, an award-winning global leader in executive aviation, and JetClub, a fractional ownership-based business aviation brand, has announced a new memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The MoU signing ceremony between Vishal Hiremath, Founder & CEO of JetClub, and Adel Mardini, Founder & CEO of Jetex, took place at Jetex VIP Terminal.

“Jetex is pleased to partner with JetClub and we see this as a natural evolution of our service offering. Within the current context, as we emerge from the health crisis and see a recovery in the global economy, I believe that the two companies are in an excellent position to continue to grow and further strengthen our lead in the global aviation market. Both JetClub and Jetex are leaders in innovation as they offer a new way for more consumers to access private aviation and enjoy its benefits. We are confident of the value Jetex can add to JetClub’s discerning fractional aircraft owners and passengers”, said Adel Mardini, Founder & CEO of Jetex.

“After successfully starting operations in Europe, we are exploring the Middle East market as our next strategic opportunity. Business and leisure travel has resumed, and private aviation is a fast, hygienic, safe, efficient option. Our agreement with Jetex allows us to explore the market, gain feedback from clients and expand our service offering, ensuring our clients have the best possible experience around the world. Our goal is to allow our clients in the United States, Europe or Asia to be able to have access to a worldwide fleet”, said Vishal Hiremath, Founder and CEO, JetClub Group.

Fractional ownership has made private jet travel accessible to new consumers for the first time, making the business model attractive, globally. JetClub and its sister company, Jet It, now operate a fleet of 14 HondaJet aircraft, making the group the largest HondaJet operator in the world.

JetClub’s HondaJet will be on display at the Dubai Airshow 2021 and at the Jetex VIP Terminal. The HondaJet is one of the lightest, quietest, and most fuel-efficient jet in its category, burning four times less fuel than a larger aircraft.
