Barwa Real Estate has signed an agreement of collaboration with the Arab Engineering Bureau to start working on the expansion project for Barwa Village on Al Wakra road amid increasing demand on commercial and residential units.
Barwa Real Estate Acting Group CEO Eng. Ahmad Abdulla Al Abdulla and Arab Engineering Bureau CEO and Chief Architect Eng. Ibrahim Al Jaidah signed the agreement according to which the Arab Engineering Bureau will the project’s consultancy and design services provider.
The decision of expanding Barwa Village comes in response to business owners and tenants’ desire for Barwa to make available more units with competitive rent value, especially after the rise in rents of both commercial and residential units.
Through the first phase of Barwa Village, the project offered 458 residential units and 918 commercial units, with amenities and services such as a school, a nursery, a hypermarket, an office building, a medical center, a fitness club and a mosque. The project now gathers a number of popular shopping stores that attracts shoppers from all over Qatar.
The expansion project will involve the development of an additional strip of land attached to the existing site with approximately 11,100 square meters set to house mixed-use buildings with retail, showroom and residential facilities in addition to the development of some other vacant plots in Barwa Village into retail units and showrooms, with a total covered area of 12,500 square meters and total built up area of 32,491 square meters.
The expansion will include a strip building consisting of ground floor and mezzanine offering commercial units, and first and second floors for residential units. Two plaza buildings will also be constructed as well as a retail building and showrooms building, each of which will consist of a ground floor and a mezzanine. The overall commercial component will offer a total of 119 shops and the residential component will provide 88 residential units that vary in size.
The Arab Engineering Bureau will provide the project with design and consultancy services during a period of 330 days as per the signed agreement. The construction works of the expansion project is expected to start on June 2015 until Dec. 2016. This is Barwa’s second collaboration with the Arab Engineering Bureau after Motor City project.
