Depachika, a novel concept inspired by Japanese basement-level food halls located in Palm Jumeirah’s Nakheel Mall, has expanded its portfolio of vendors by adding two new homegrown F&B brands that open on August 30.

Prime Gourmet, Dubai’s original and first butcher shop, opens its fifth retail butchery at Depachika, while Chef Reif Othman launches his eatery Kushi by Reif with a compact menu of simple Japanese soul food, following on from the existing cake counter.

These two new locally developed concepts bring Depachika’s array of premium dine-in and retail vendors to 38 brands, with a further five expected to open by the end of the year.

“Right from the outset, we wanted to differentiate with Depachika, by showcasing locally developed concepts in one food hall destination – mainly from brands backed by Dubai-based artisans, entrepreneurs and break- through talent. Our vendors are diverse, offering everything from dine-in, take- away, gourmet groceries and foodie gifts, right through to a wine cellar, cheese room, cooking school and pop-ups. Our two latest additions – Prime Gourmet and Kushi by Reif – are both trendsetters in their respective fields of butchery and Japanese cuisine,” says Sandy El Hayek, food & beverage manager, Nakheel Malls.

Prime Gourmet stockists include family-owned farms, such as Stockyard Angus and Wagyu beef, Obe organic certified beef, Topfarm Saroma Wagyu Japanese beef, Silver Fern Farms grass-fed beef and lamb, ESA milk fed veal, as well as Tegel and Rangitikei chicken.

Meanwhile, Kushi by Reif’s menu of comfort dishes boasts the chef’s Instagram-famous Japanese ‘sando’ sandwiches, kushi skewers, ramen, donburi rice bowls, gyoza dumplings, and a Dubai-first for Reif – fries with a choice of toppings.

Those with a sweet tooth will still find Kushi’s signature Japanese spin on classic comfort cakes, such as the sesame cheesecake, yuzu éclair with fresh cream, and the pandemic best-seller creation – his ‘toilet roll’ lemon and yuzu cake. Prices range from AED 28 – AED 158.
