Qatar Exchange Index Loses 2,205.32 Points in June

Qatar Exchange index lost 2,205.32 points (or -16.10%) in June 2014 compared to May 2014 when the bourse to close at 11,488.87 points.
The market capitalization of QR 632,232,607,097.56 is a drop by 14.20% compared to QR 736,878,568,244.49 noted at the end of May 2014.
The trading value of QR 17,717,524,539.44 in June is a decrease by 31.24% compared to QR 25,767,705,527.70 in May.
The trading volume of 398,573,839 shares is a decrease by 29.09% compared to 562,058,346 shares in May, while the 199,130 transactions is a drop by 16.92% compared to 239,688 transactions in May.
Trading activity was seen over 22 days in June compared to 21 in May.
Banks and financial services led traded value in June accounting for 43.26% of the total traded value. Industries accounted for 17.09%. Real estate accounted for 14.62%. Telecoms accounted for 10.26%. Consumer Goods and Services accounted for 8.31%. Insurance accounted for 3.67%, and transportation accounted for 2.79%.
Banks and financial services led traded volume in June with 32.46% of the total traded volume. Real Estate accounted for 23.49%. Telecoms accounted for 15.33%. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 12.65%. Industries accounted for 8.93%. Transportation accounted for 3.98%, and insurance accounted for 3.15%.
Masraf Al Rayan topped the traded value with QR 3,319,367,898.85 or 18.73% of the total value. Qatar National Bank followed with QR 1,364,346,469.90 or 7.70% and Vodafone Qatar accounted for QR 1,145,060,701.03 or 6.46% of the total value.
From the 43 listed companies seven ended June higher, 35 fell and one remained unchanged.
The highest traded value of QR 1,730,564,417.15 from 13,708 trades for a volume of 37,388,257 shares was recorded on June 1 which spurred Qatar Index to 13,696.98 points, also the highest peak of the month. After that high on the first day of the month, the index went down throughout, barring a couple of days.
