The UAE participated in the 4th joint Ministerial Gas Forum, organised by the International Energy Forum (IEF) and the International Gas Union (IGU) in partnership with Ministry of Energy of Mexico in Acapulco from 11-12 November 2014.
The 4th IEF-IGU Ministerial Gas Forum gathered energy ministers, industry CEOs and selected thought-leaders for discussions around “The Role of Gas in Energy Security and Sustainable Economic Development”.
Dr. Mattar Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of Ministry of Energy, engaged in a panel session on the ”Long-term Investment and LNG Trade in Competitive but Unsettled Gas Markets.” Al Neyadi met on the margin of the forum with Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, Secretary of Energy of Mexico, and discussed with him ways to enhance joint cooperation. They also reviewed the state of affairs in the world oil market in terms of prices.
The topics covered at the 4th IEF-IGU Ministerial Gas Forum were of global relevance.
They covered the role of gas in economic development and its interaction with other sources of energy, the opportunities and challenges for investments in turbulent markets, the competitive landscape for LNG trade, and overall the interaction between policy and private sector strategy in this capital-intensive and long-term oriented sector.
