More than 75000 persons from the GCC countries spent Eid al-Fitr holiday in Doha and enjoyed Eid festivals and entertainment activities that took place in different parts of the country, the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) announced .
Director of Marketing and Public Relations at QTA, Hind Zainal said in a press statement released today by the authority that the delivery of the services at the hotels sector rose to more than 80 percent during the first days of Eid al-Fitr and sometimes reached to 100 percent, expressing satisfaction over the success of this year’s Eid festival, which was attended by thousands of citizens, residents and tourists to celebrate this special occasion. The Eid festival is an initiative launched by the QTA to attract more tourists to Qatar, especially those from the Gulf region. QTA announced that in the second quarter of the year 2013, tourism in Qatar recorded an increase of 17% in all sectors compared with the corresponding period of last year, while the number of tourists increased by 6.6 percent.
