Qatar Central Bank (QCB) organizes the second conference of Information Security in the financial institutions under the title ‘Enhancing IT security in the financial sector in today’s world’ on November 15-16.
QCB Governor HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saoud Al-Thani said in a statement today that the conference aims to shed light on IT security and enhancing its infrastructure.
He stressed that QCB has worked in the previous years on the improvement of applications, software and hardware related to information security in accordance with the best international practices to take advantage of the latest technology in this field, in order to reach the desired goals and in accordance with the strategic plan for the development and the achievement of Qatar National Vision 2030.
Qatar Central Bank continues its efforts to create a secure and stable financial environment, through coordination between supervisory and oversight authorities of the financial services sector in the state, and through joint efforts between them through the relevant specialized committees. In this regard, the bank has issued a number of circulars and instructions for financial institutions in the country regarding the procedures to be followed and the standards, applications and systems to be implemented for the information security and safety.
Accordingly, we look forward to the outcome and recommendations of the conference to support Qatar Central Bank’s efforts in the field of information security protection, and we wish for this Conference the success and achievement of the planned goals, QCB Governor added.
