Despite the remarkable development seen in the area of communications and networking technologies all over the world, the State of Qatar did not ignore the necessity of promoting the postal sector and equipping it with top-notch technologies in order to cope with the unprecedented strides in this industry.
As part of its endeavors to vitalize the sector, Qatar, and through the Qatar Postal Services Company (QPSC) hosted and participated in a number of Arab, regional and international conventions, conferences, seminars and gatherings. QPSC also issued a series of postage stamps commemorating local and international events. These include the World Forum for Social Insurance, the Sports Day, Celebrating 50 Years for the launching of the Qatari Insurance Company, and 10 Years for Aljazeera Media Training Center.
Being aware of the high importance of promoting its brand in the regional and international arenas, QPSC organized and hosted last year a number of prestigious events, including Qatar International Fair for Transport and Services (Trans4) at Doha Exhibitions Centre, the 15th Meeting for the Final Expenses Team and the 27th and 28th meetings of the Arab Postal Union.
The company organized a host of courses on IPS system in collaboration with the Universal Postal Union; organized conferences on standardization and technology, express mail, parcels, and the 2013-2016 workshop on enhancing electronic financial transferences in the Arab region. And in recognition of the primary role of training Arab postal personnel, QPSC hosted and trained a number of Palestinian postal officials at the Post Public Cooperation premises, and signed an agreement with the Qatari Red Crescent in support of the latters’ local and external charity projects.
As an integral component of the Qatari and the GCC societies, QPSC participated in fairs and exhibitions organized by local and GCC institutions inside and outside the State of Qatar. Such events include the Hamad Medical Corporation National Day Celebration, the Cultural Centre Fair for Children, the 3rd Exhibition for Arab Postage Stamps in Saudi Arabia, and a similar event in Kuwait.
To further Arab and GCC cooperation, the company demonstrated effective presence in the symposium and workshop on the Improvement of International Express Mail and its logistic chain hosted by Casablanca, the Kingdom of Morocco, the 17th Session for the Council of the Arab Minsters of Communications, and its executive body in Algiers, the 19th Meeting of the Unified Procurement Team in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the GCC Postal organizational and Operational Team Meeting at the GCC Secretariat General premises in Riyadh, in addition to numerous meetings and gatherings convened to deliberate on the enhancement of cooperation in the postage services. Delegations representing the company also visited a number of Arab states to discuss mutual cooperation.
The company, being part on the international effort to promote postage services, has always been keen to demonstrate strong presence in international events. To this effect QPSC participated in the Electronic Trade and the Postage Sector Meeting in Turkey, the 20th Anniversary of the European Postal Union in Italy, the IPS Workshop in Austria, the Board of Directors and Postage Investment Meeting and the 84th Board Meeting in Switzerland, the 9th Meeting of Lyngsoe Systems Company in Denmark, the Coordination Committee Meeting in Switzerland, and the Universal Postal Union Pension Fund in Switzerland, in addition to other prestigious events.
