HE Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani said Monday that trade balance between the State of Qatar and GCC members was worth QR43.3 billion in 2013.
Qatari total exports were worth QR30 Billion while imports were at QR13.3 Billion, HE the Minister added.
In an exclusive interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) today on the sidelines of 15th GCC Joint Exhibition at the Sharjah Expo Centre in Sharjah, HE the Qatari Minister said that the exhibition was an opportunity to advance joint work and economic integration. His Excellency added that the convening of representatives of the GCC private sector will boost joint investments and trade.
HE the Minister of Economy and Trade further said that this year’s exhibition presents an opportunity to find out the investment opportunities available and the latest developments in the GCC market. HE Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani added that the exhibition comes at the special occasion of 33 years of establishing the GCC and noted that holding of such events consistently will have a positive impact on trade between GCC countries.

HE the Minister of Economy and Trade Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani expressed his hope that the current exhibition will yield a stronger presence of GCC products in the market.
His Excellency visited the Qatari pavillon in the exhibition, and which is set up on 1000 meters. HE the Minister praised the displays of the participating Qatari companies such as Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Industries and Qatar Development Bank, wishing them all success.
For his part the Board Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani expressed his delight at the return of the joint GCC Exhibition after a break that lasted for years. His Excellency said that introducing the GCC products to citizens was one of the biggest goals of this year’s exhibition.
While Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association(QBA) HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani praised the Qatari segment of the exhibition because it set itself apart by displaying their industry sector and its different products.
More than 200 companies participate in this year’s exhibition. The companies range from industry, trade and business to small and medium enterprises , real estate, tourism ,sustainable energy , construction, transportation, aviation, media, agriculture, investment, food security, oil and gas.
