In line with its ongoing efforts to develop and modernise its smart systems and applications specialised in the management of government resources, the Ministry of Finance (MoF), in collaboration with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), will be launching a range of e-Dirham smart applications during GITEX Technology Week 2014, which is taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12th – 16th October, 2014.
During Gitex, MoF will be showcasing its new e-Dirham applications at the Federal e-Government stand, including mobile payment solutions, e-wallet, mobile software applications, e-kiosks, e-Dirham cards, e-coupons as well as other services such as transfer and direct debt from bank accounts.
Commenting on MoF’s presence at GITEX, Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Under-Secretary of Resources and Budget Affairs at MoF, said, “MoF’s participation under the federal e-government stand each year allows us to showcase a new range of electronic and technical services which have been recently modernised to suit today’s fast paced technologically-centric audience. The Ministry also aims to showcase the second generation of e-Dirham system to strengthen the process of developing government financial resources.” He added, “GITEX represents an interactive platform to communicate with various federal government agencies and entities, and in turn enable the Ministry to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination among them in areas of technical development. This will allow the Ministry to provide the best smart government services for auditors and the local community as well as promote sustainability and long term prosperity in the U.A.E. with the aim of it becoming one of the best countries in the world by 2021.” The mobile payment service is a digital application tool offering e-payment services provided by ministries and public entities via mobile phones. The e-wallet is a secure method for e-payments through mobile phones as well as the internet. These smart applications offered to pay off services from ministries and entities electronically allows users to complete their payments through mobile phones and text messages.
Abdulla Al Otaiba, Senior Managing Director of Retail and Commercial – Gulf at NBAD said, “NBAD is committed to delivering increased efficiency and convenience to shoppers, service-providers and merchants, and to promote the goal of Smart Government throughout the country.” He added, “The prestigious GITEX, with its huge appeal to technology enthusiasts from across the region and beyond, is an excellent venue to showcase our latest and most advanced technologies when it comes to payment. I am very confident that they will startle and impress the attendees, and, as a result, help promote our common goal of ‘smart payment.” The e-kiosks service offers e-dirham cards for financial allocations and the implementation of service payment processes. In addition, the transfer and direct debt from bank accounts services allows customers to settle services by direct transfer from a bank account to a biller.
