The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has announced that it intends to launch two key initiatives to provide basic consumer goods at discounted prices to citizens during the holy month of Ramadan.
The two initiatives aim to protect consumers from any unjustified rises in prices, whereas the first initiative stated nearly 400 food and non-food items which will be sold at all selling outlets at discounted prices, starting from Sunday, June 22 and until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The list on discounted commodities will be circulated and installed at all main selling outlets across the country and will be announced on the media organs.
The second initiative, including agreement with Widam Food Company (Widam) to import 27,000 live sheep and will be sold at subsidized and discounted prices through identity card.
The selling of the sheep for citizens will start from Wednesday, June 25 until the end of the holy month, on condition that the slaughtering will be at Widam’s own slaughterhouses or abattoirs.
