Juma Mohammed Al Kit, Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Economy for Foreign Trade, and Jason Buntin, Director for Europe and Middle East Affairs, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, discussed ways of enhancing trade ties between the UAE and US on one hand and GCC and US on the other.
Al Kit briefed the US trade official on the latest major economic developments taking place in the U.A.E., and efforts being made by the U.A.E. government to maintain its prominent economic and trade status at regional and international levels.
The two officials exchanged views on a variety of trade and economic issues, notably the World Trade Organisation’s Trade Facilitation Agreement.
Non-oil foreign trade between the U.A.E. and US reached US$ 28 billion in 2013, making the US the second largest trade partner to the U.A.E., which remains a major exports markets for US goods in the Middle East and North Africa.
More than 1000 US companies are operating in the U.A.E.
