Kuwait’s foreign policy focuses on improving cooperation and expanding constructive dialogue with other countries, said Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mexico and Non-Resident Ambassador to Guatemala Johar Hayat.
The Ambassador’s statement came in a lecture he delivered late Wednesday on the sidelines of his visit to Guatemala, where he handed Guatemalan Foreign Minister Luis Fernando Carrera Castro a letter from Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, including an invitation to visit Kuwait.
He noted that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah always orders offering all support to the UN projects for helping poor countries achieve sustainable development, said Hayat.
His Highness also increases Kuwait’s contribution and donations to the UN funds, he said.
He added that Kuwait also plays a prominent role in supporting international humanitarian activities including fighting poverty and hunger, and participating in development projects for poor countries.
The Ambassador also highlighted the role of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) in helping 106 countries by executing about 800 developmental projects since it was established in 1962.
Moreover, he praised the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Guatemala and the development it had seen in different fields in the past three years.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Guatemala Ambassador Rodrigo Vielmann, Chairman of the private-public partnership alliance Julio Hector Estrada, and representatives of the Ministry of Public Finance and the Ministry of Economy in Guatemala.
