Kuwaiti-German commercial exchange is at a satisfactory level with Germany exporting 1.32 billion euros worth of goods to Kuwait in 2013 while receiving around 356 million euros from Kuwait, German Ambassador Eugen Wollfarth to Kuwait said here Wednesday.
Speaking to KUNA, Ambassador Wollfarth said that bilateral relations were excellent, adding both countries would celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties.
The upcoming visit by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to Germany would see the Kuwaiti official meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and also would have Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak attend the 40th anniversary of partnership between Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and the auto-maker, Daimler.
Previous visits by Kuwaiti officials helped to further bolster relations, said the Ambassador, noting that the upcoming visit by the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak would take relations to the next level.
The German diplomat took the chance to laud the Kuwaiti leadership’s humanitarian efforts, saying the recent UN honoring of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah as a “Humanitarian Leader” was in recognition of Kuwait’s efforts as a global “Humanitarian Center”.
In regards to Kuwaiti Investments in Germany, Wollfarth said that they amounted to around USD 18.3 billion mostly through KIA.
On German investments, the Ambassador told KUNA that several German companies are present in Kuwait and many local investors have shares in them, making these companies a true representation of German-Kuwaiti partnership.
