A delegation of outstanding Kuwaiti female students paid a visit to the project of Port of Safi funded by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED).
The visit, which concludes on January 17, is part of the “Be a Well-achiever” trip to Morocco, organized by the KFAED.
Said bin Ammi, a senior official at the port, said late on Thursday that the project comprises the construction of a new port in an area, 15 km south from Safi city, for coal imports for the new thermal power station.
He noted that the total cost of project, thoroughly funded by the KFAED, is estimated at Moroccan Dirham (MAD) 4.41 billion in the framework of the Gulf grant signed in 2012.
He said that the project started in 2013 and will have been fulfilled by 2017.
Abdelilah Mehraj, another official at the port, said that the project is considered a strategic addition to the infrastructure of Morocco’s maritime transport sector. He briefed the students on the project’s plans and all challenges it faces.
Students then visited the old city of Safi and the market of traditional industries.
