Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea’s top automaker, said Wednesday that its June sales fell 1.2 percent from a year earlier on less demand from overseas markets.
Hyundai Motor said that it sold a total of 408,026 vehicles in June, down from 412,835 units tallied a year before. Its domestic sales came to 62,802 units, up 4.8 percent from a year earlier, but overseas shipments shrank 2.2 percent to 345,224 units over the cited period, the company said, Yohap news agency reported. “An increase in working days helped increase exports of domestically produced vehicles, but overall exports remained weak, affected by the global economic slump,” Hyundai Motor said.
During the January-June period, Hyundai Motor said it sold a cumulative 2,416,626 cars, down 3.2 percent from the same period a year earlier.
