A senior delegation from Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, and Hamad Al Mansouri, First Secretary?, UAE Embassy to Egypt, visited the Children’s Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 in Cairo yesterday to present a donation of about AED500, 000, raised through the �Colour Their Lives’ community initiative in Abu Dhabi.
During the visit, Khaled Al Mehairbi, Etihad Airways Senior Vice President of Government and Aero-political Affairs, Ali Al Shamsi, Head of Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Hub, and Magdi Labib, Etihad Airways’ General Manager in Egypt, also distributed donated blankets and shirts.
Al Mehairbi, who also serves as Chairman of Etihad Airways’ Sports and Social Committee, said, “This donation represents the kindness and generosity of our staff, as well as the wider community in Abu Dhabi who participated in our �Colour Their Lives’ community initiative.
“Together, we have been able to make a positive impact in the lives of the children who receive care at this hospital, many of whom we were delighted to meet yesterday. As the UAE flag carrier, we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to society and give back to those in need.” Donations were collected through the �Colour Their Lives’ marathon, which was held at Abu Dhabi Corniche on 31 January 2014 and saw participation in four categories: adults, children, mother and child, and children with special needs.
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Hamdan bin Mohamed Al Nahyan attended the race and distributed prizes to the winners, along with Abdulla Rashed Khalaf Al Otaiba, Chairman of the Department of Transport, and Major General Obaid Al Hairi Salem Ketbi, Deputy General Commander of Abu Dhabi Police and UAE official dignitaries.
The community event was also attended by Ihab Hammouda, the Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE, together with delegates from the Egyptian Embassy, Egyptian nationals and prominent Egyptian singer Ihab Tawfeek.
