The Emirates Identity Authority has welcomed the findings of the 2014 Industry Survey by the Biometrics Institute, London. The survey, which provides valuable insights into the different trends and developments in the biometrics industry, concluded that the use of biometrics on mobile devices was the most significant development in the biometrics world over the past one year.

Isabelle Moeller, Chief Executive of the Biometrics Institute, said: “This confirms the discussions we have seen amongst our members at the various Biometrics Institute events and reinforces why we are so pleased to confirm that Samsung Electronics are presenting at this year’s Biometrics 2014: The future of identity starts here! Conference and exhibition organized by Elsevier in partnership with the Biometrics Institute in London. The conference will take place during October 21-23, 2014”.

Dr. Ali Al Khouri, Director General of the Emirates Identity Authority, will present a paper at the Conference on “Revolutionizing security in the U.A.E. through the use of biometric technology and developing a comprehensive framework to address identity, trust and security in eGovernment by the Emirates Identity Authority.” In a statement on the release of the survey by the Biometrics Institute, the Emirates ID said that it concurred with the results of the survey. “The Emirates ID has consistently argued for the adoption of biometrics as the principal means of identity authentication. The fact that biometrics has now been adopted by the mobile phone industry is indeed a significant milestone in widening the use of this unique form of identity validation,” the Authority pointed out, adding that it would extent the biometric authentication systems to the mobile domain in future.
