Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Conventions Center at Madinat Jumeirah will on Monday host the launch of the Dubai International Project Management Forum (DIPMF); which is held by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in collaboration with the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), and Emaar Properties.
The event features a wide international participation comprising elite global experts of project management field; which is the backbone of development strategies, and a key pillar of modern management science that has considerable bearing on drawing up the outlines and parameters ensuring the success of development efforts in various fields.
Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, welcomed the participants and attendees of the Dubai International Project Management Forum, saying: “When you visit Dubai, you will notice signs of topnotch infrastructure, economic growth, services of the highest standards, and a multitude of quality projects which attracted global attention, such as Burj Khalifa, Dubai Metro, Dubai International Airport, Palm Jumeirah, and a lot others through which Dubai aims for the satisfaction and wellbeing of its residents.” This Forum, he says, comes as a direct result of the effective cooperation between the RTA, DEWA, Emaar Properties, and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
“This initiative is taken in the context of the keenness of Dubai to play a pivotal role in leading the development drive in the region and identify the ingredients capable of accelerating the pace of this drive in the light of sound scientific basis, and the highest global standards and practices. This could well be achieved through attracting top experts and highly qualified specialists with a broad international repute to international events that can be utilized as effective knowledge transfer platforms. Moreover, Dubai is keen to act as a communication channel contributing to the sharing of expertise, concepts and visions between gurus of different industries spanning a variety of fields in keeping with its billing as a city of an Arab affiliation and global orientation,” continued Al Tayer.
“The Forum focuses on the core role of projects in managing and streamlining the business of government and private entities. It applies the concepts of Project Management as a new approach in managing organizations to achieve their vision and objectives, both at the strategic or operational levels. This can be achieved through applying multi-level project management system covering the mechanisms of project portfolio management for selecting the most appropriate projects to achieve strategic objectives, management of programs to ensure the integration and coordination between different projects to achieve the common objectives of such projects, and methods of project management adopted to ensure completion in accordance with the approved plan, on a timely manner, and within the budget allocated,” he added.
