With its commitment to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s initiative to transform Dubai into a Smart City, and as part of its strategy to expand Dubai businesses’ competitiveness in the promising markets of Africa, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched the Africa Gateway Smart Application which is seen as a game changer in doing smart business with African countries.
The smart application is considered a milestone in the world of business and finance as it allows exclusive access to investment opportunities in Africa, its market dynamics, as well as information on bidding for tenders across the continent.
Presently, the African continent is one of the fastest growing in the world and according to current projections 25 African countries have registered more than 5% GDP growth during the year 2014. The continent’s diverse investment potential was highlighted during the second session of the Africa Global Business Forum organised by Dubai Chamber last October.
Also, the new application provides tips for Dubai companies to reach out to African markets as well as access to economic indicators for the six market economies including Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa.
The application has case studies on how the UAE companies have established in Africa, including Julphar, Delta Food, Emitac Mobile Solutions (EMS) and Genavco. It also provides a range of analysis and insights on key markets in Africa. The user can request for specialised studies on specific sectors of the African markets while getting directly in touch with Dubai Chamber representative offices in Africa.
Hamad Buamim, President and CEO, Dubai Chamber , stated that this unique service is a valuable resource for the business community as it fills up the information gap about foreign markets and it also makes doing business in Dubai more convenient in line with the recommendations of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to transform the emirate into one of the most smartest cities in the world.
“This application has been developed to meet the pressing needs of the business community in reaching out to promising markets while enriching their experience in doing business with overseas companies and enhancing their competitiveness in the world business arena,” he said.
Buamim further stated that the Africa Gateway application complements Dubai Chamber ‘s smart services launched recently and is just the beginning of a slew of smart services being introduced by the Chamber for the business community in the long run.
” Dubai Chamber is currently preparing new applications and smart services for targeted markets in the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Latin American region, as these will help us prepare for the challenges and requirements of the next stage of development and will also go a long way in establishing the business community’s innovation and excellence in the business world,” he said.
The target markets section of the application features six African countries including Angola, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and South Africa, where several columns provide information on key data, political outlook, economy, key sectors, trade, foreign investment, business environment and UAE relationship including export and re-export opportunities.
Information is also available in the Do Business section which has services, offices, opportunities, events and Dubai business where users can register for participation in events and forums or request for special studies on important sectors of the market, or view the bidding opportunities in all African markets.
This section also provides contact information of various Dubai Chamber representative offices in the African continent, in addition to helping companies and businessmen in Africa to identify the business environment in Dubai, as well as information about various Dubai Chamber services, including establishing a business in Dubai, economic and specialised research, credit rating and other important services offered by the Chamber .
One of the sections of the smart application, carries a range of specialised economic articles provided by “The Economist” group including specialised economic studies and investment opportunities in the markets and certain sectors of African countries, in addition to reviewing cases and stories of UAE companies’ investments in the diverse African market.
