Barclays awards Dubai Police for it’s fight against financial crimes

Barclays, the financial services provider, has presented Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Chief of Dubai Police, and his team at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, with an award recognising the efforts of Dubai Police in combating financial crimes in Dubai.

The Dubai Police Force has supported the banks financial crime team on multiple occasions and has been heavily involved in creating the framework to better tackle financial offences which have included serious fraud and money laundering.

The award is a gesture of gratitude to the law enforcement authority for their persistent efforts towards swiftly resolving crimes against the bank and working with the team consistently at all critical times.

Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Chief of Dubai Police, said, “We are glad to be able to work with Barclays in our fight against financial crime. The advantages of such teamwork are immense and immeasurable. We are thankful for this recognition from Barclays and proud to be working together with private businesses towards a safer business and consumer environment.” Rezwan Mirza, Managing Director, Head of Corporate Banking, U.A.E. and GCC, at Barclays Plc., added, “We are proud to be able to cooperate with Dubai Police in the fight against financial crime and humbled to present this award to the Chief of Police and his team. Protecting the security and safety of its employees and customers is a priority for the banking industry. Crimes affecting the banking sector range from robbery to high tech and highly organised fraud operations. Barclays continues to work closely with law enforcement agencies to combat financial crime in the U.A.E. and the region.”
