88 Investors Participate in Tender for Food Security Projects

The technical committee tasked with engaging private sector in food security projects on Tuesday briefed investors on the plots of land assigned for food projects in Umm Ghuwailina area as well as the support extended by the government to ensure the success of such projects.

      88 investors participating in a tender for franchise to implement these food projects took part in a field visit organized by the committee, a statement issued by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce said today, adding that the field visit comes within the framework of the Ministries of Economy and Environment’s keenness to realize the principle of transparency as well as support the private sector and its role in food security.

     The statement said that the committee gave the investors a full explanation and introduced them to nature of the land and the quality of water used in agriculture, as well as the role of the committee in providing the necessary support to the private sector in coordination with the parties concerned to encourage their contribution to food security projects.

    The investors expressed willingness to contribute to the committee’s efforts aimed to increase green fodder production and local market self-sufficiency, added the statement.

     The investors also praised the Ministry of Economy and Commerce’s support to the private sector to invest in this field, and expressed their optimism about the project given the size of the allocated land, saying that the project is expected to be one of the leading projects in ensuring high-quality green fodder crops.
