Qatar Petroleum’s (QP) Dukhan Operations, in coordination with the Best Practice Technical Committee (BPTC), has organized the Operational Safety Challenges Feedback Workshop at the Grand Heritage Hotel Doha.
The workshop was attended by staff from QP’s various directorates and departments including Dukhan Operations, Industrial Cities, the Drilling Department, Gas Operations and Offshore Operations. as well as by representatives from Total E & P Qatar, Occidental Petroleum (Oxy), ExxonMobil, Q-Chem, Qatar Shell, Oryx GTL, Texas A&M University at Qatar, and the American Society of Safety Engineers (Qatar Section).
The primary objective of the workshop was to gather feedback on the 2nd Operational Safety Challenges Forum, which was held in January 2014, and to discuss the theme for the next edition of the forum, said QP in a press statement today.
In his welcome speech, Ahmad Saif Al-Sulaiti, Operations Manager-Dukhan Fields, stated that QP is fully committed to operational safety excellence and he stressed that it remains an important challenge for all oil & gas companies to sustain and promote safety in all aspects of their operations.
He expressed his gratitude to HE Minister of Energy and Industry and Chairman of QP Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada for his continuous support to the BPTC committee members for organizing the forum and for the presence of all the participants who came to the workshop.
BPTC Chairman Soud Jaleel Al-Ruwaili, presented an overview of the previous two editions of the forum and his presentation included the forum statistics, summary and highlights.
The workshop also featured a brainstorming session on the forum’s next theme, which must be related to operational safety challenges and the best practices that would add significant value in improving safety and security in all aspects of operations.
