HE Qatar’s Minister of Energy and Industry Mohammed Saleh Abdullah Al Sada announced existance of a lot of important projects and research areas on environment protection carried out by the State of Qatar through Qatar’s Petroleum institutions and its partners.
These projects aim to capture carbon dioxide to be safe for use in oil production or to be stored underground for a safe manner as part of a lot of researches that are working on at the moment, he said.
Speaking on the sidelines of the opening a plant of restoration and injection of carbon dioxide at Qatar Fuel Additives Company (QAFAC), Al Sada said that the project is concerned with the environment primarily but at the same time enjoys an excellent economic return and it comes as part of Qatar National Vision 2030, which was launched and sponsored by HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, a vision that sets the environment at its top priorities.
The Minister of Energy and Industry said that the State of Qatar has embarked on several environmental projects, including this project, which takes into account to capture carbon dioxide, which was supposed to be released into the air and harm the environment, adding that the project will lead to production of methanol.
He noted that the plant is considered as the first of its kind in Qatar and in the Middle East, adding that the it is part of Qatar’s commitment to the environment and climate change.
