Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has started implementing the third phase of SAP for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP). The system will measure, integrate, and automate all of DEWA’s processes to provide the highest level of service to its customers, employees and partners. The move is in line with DEWA’s commitment to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the U.A.E. and Ruler of Dubai, and DEWA’s vision to become a sustainable world-class utility that provides excellent services to all Dubai’s residents.
DEWA started implementing SAP Wave III last March and is set for completion by June 2015. This phase of SAP will implement the Institutional Asset Management and Enterprise System in the Production, Transmission, and Water sectors, the Fleet Asset Management and the Enterprise System in the Business Support sector, and the General Budget Planning System in the Finance sector. DEWA has organised awareness sessions for its employees in different departments educate them about each phase of the SAP project and its goals.
“This phase of SAP covers many aspects of DEWA’s scope of work. It provides integrated solutions that contribute to supporting our objective to achieve sustainable development as per international best practices. The SAP system will help deliver excellent services to our customers as well as DEWA’s different sectors, according to international best practices. This will further support the development strategy of the U.A.E. which fosters the adoption of smart services and encourages the use of smart apps to reduce the number of physical visits to government offices to achieve balanced and sustainable development,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA.
Implementing the SAP system is one of DEWA’s important initiatives and began in 2008. The first phase of the project was completed in October 2009 for customer services. The second phase was completed in 2012 for purchases, logistics, finance, accounting and human resources.
SAP for Enterprise Resource Planning enables DEWA to provide high quality services to its customers, employees, and business partners by enhancing integration of its processes and monitoring operations. SAP also helps to provide the most relevant data that supports decision-making, and improves efficiency to improve customer satisfaction.
