Kalimat meets children at reading sessions, workshops and booking signings

Kalimat publishing is participating in the 24th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair being run from 30 April to 5 May, 2014. During the six-day literary event, Kalimat will be hosting three events at its stand, on Thursday May 1st, Friday May 2nd and Sunday May 4th respectively.

Writer Maitha Al Khayat will read to children from her book (Jawaribou Oumi Al Ajiba) My Mom’s Amazing Socks during a reading session and workshop on the book on Thursday. On the following day, Noura Abbas Al Khoori will read from her book (Fanteer… AL Flamingo Al Manfoosh) Fanteer the Fluffy Flamingo. On Sunday, Rai Abdulal will read her book (Al Dirham Al Nathif) The Clean Dirham during a reading session, which will be followed by a book signing event.

Tamer Said, Business Development Manager at Kalimat Group, said: “We seek to participate in the major book fairs in the UAE and region to meet our young readers, update them on our various releases, develop their sense of culture, and amuse them through our reading sessions and workshops. Such events act as platforms for us to boost our cooperation with eminent writers and illustrators and to network with international publishers and discuss ways of cooperation in translation and distribution with them.” Kalimat will showcase its six latest releases at ADIBF, which include (Ra’asan Ala Aqueb) Upside Down authored by Rola Chami Al Hoss and Rania Salim Al Hage, and illustrated by Khaled Sadaka; (Rassa’el Salma) Salma’s Letters authored by Sanaa Shabbani, and illustrated by Blanca B.K; (Al Panda Al Saghir) The Little Panda written by Abir Ballan, and illustrated by Christelle Hallal; (Al Dirham Al Nathif) The Clean Dirham, authored by Rai Abdulal and illustrated by Sophie Burrows; (Hekayati Al Jadida) My New Life, written by Rania Zbib Daher and illustrated by Rocio Alejandro, and (Hikayat Al Feel) The Elephant Story written by Lauren St. John, and translated by Jalal Hussein Al Khalil.
