The Architecture and Design Commission announced the launch of the King Salman Charter for Architecture and Urbanism Award in its first edition, to celebrate urban projects that distinguished themselves by adopting the values of the Charter and contributed to motivating practitioners and specialists to produce high-quality deliverables.

The Award aims to contribute to achieving the objectives of the Charter in promoting distinguished urban projects, as it includes three tracks: the (constructed projects) path for project owners and design companies, the (unconstructed projects) path for design companies, and the (student projects) path for university students, taking into account the detailed conditions related to each path, and the participations will be evaluated according to clear criteria.

The value of the Charter Award is represented by its association with the King Salman Charter for Architecture and Urbanism Initiative, which bears the name of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may Allah protect him, and reflects his keenness and interest in creating a distinctive urban identity based on cultural and environmental heritage and simulating future developments, to achieve urban excellence.

It is worth mentioning that the King Salman Charter for Architecture and Urbanism was launched in November 2021, and it translates the journey of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah protect him, in developing a contemporary national urban approach that enhances the national urban identity. The launch of the Charter Initiative was accompanied by the organization of exhibitions, briefings about the Charter, many activities, and public meetings on the arts of architecture and design in various cities and regions of the Kingdom, in addition to the participation in several international events and occasions.
