Drake ‘&’ Scull International PJSC (DSI), a regional market leader in the integrated design, engineering and construction disciplines of General Contracting, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP),
Water and Power, Rail and Oil and Gas, has announced that it has signed a contract worth around AED 110 million to execute complete MEP works for the redevelopment of Mall of the Emirates in Dubai. The contract was awarded by Khansaheb Civil Engineering LLC, who is the main contractor for the project.
Under the terms of the agreement, DSI will procure, install, test and commission all MEP works at the iconic shopping mall, to be completed by 2015. Located on Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road, Mall of the Emirates recently announced its multi-stage redevelopment project at an estimated cost of AED 1 billion under the theme ‘Evolution 2015.’ The redevelopment, which will include a new fashion district, luxury retail, and sports and leisure precinct, alongside unique dining concepts and an expansion of its cinemas, will be undertaken in phases with work on Phase 1 already underway. Mall of the Emirates has been ranked as the most lucrative mall in the Middle East in terms of sales per square foot, and 7th overall in the world according to the International Council of Shopping Centres.
Commenting on the project award, Khaldoun Tabari, DSI PJSC Vice Chairman and CEO, said: “The new contract for the redevelopment of Mall of the Emirates underscores our proven track record in offering specialized MEP services for large scale shopping malls. We are pleased to be chosen by the client and Khansaheb for the execution of the MEP works on this prestigious landmark.
