SPE announces 2016 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Dubai

The Society of Petroleum Engineers, SPE, has announced its 2016 Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, ATCE, which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

This will be the first time that SPE’s most prestigious conference will be held in the Middle East.

“SPE’s membership is dispersed globally. More than 11,000 of our professional members and 2,200 of our student members reside in the Middle East,” said Jeff Spath, 2014 SPE President. “Dubai’s position as the crossroads of east and west make it an ideal meeting point for our global industry.” ATCE brings together emerging technologies, state-of-the art innovation, leading-edge companies and organizations with an anticipated 10,000 attending engineers, scientists, managers, and executives connecting on technical topics and for networking opportunities. ATCE serves as the annual general meeting of SPE members where awards and recognitions are distributed to the industry’s technical leaders.

Certification and training opportunities will also be offered. An exhibition of over 10,000 square meters will be available as well, according to SPE.

Khalid Zainalabedin with Saudi Aramco has been selected as the ATCE 2016 Programme Chairperson to lead the programme committee in developing an outstanding technical programme.

“We are honoured and excited that The Society of Petroleum Engineers have chosen Dubai as the host city for their 2016 Annual Conference and Exhibition. SPE selecting Dubai as host city is a clear indication that the emirate is on track in positioning itself as a leading international business events destination. We see this conference as not only another fantastic opportunity for Dubai to prove it has the aviation, local transport and meeting infrastructure to handle a delegation of this size with professionalism and ease but it is another chance to display what this vibrant emirate has to offer from a business and knowledge perspective”, said Helal Al Marri, Director General of Dubai Tourism.

SPE has said that call for papers, registration, exhibit and sponsorship support will be available in early 2015, however photos of Dubai location and SPE leaders are available upon request.
